My_Story

I have always been overweight from as far back as I can remember. I was'nt a big baby, 6 lbs, but as I got older I got heavier. I was even enrolled in Weight Watchers when I was 10 years old by my mom. She had good intentions but she has always been a small woman ( size 5). She nor anyone else who has this dreaded PCOS understands that it is nearly impossible to lose the weight easily. I was diagnosed with PCOS about 15 years ago but God blessed us with 3 children over the years. It took 6 years between our 1st and 2nd children and only 2 years between the 2nd and 3rd. We would love to have a 4th but when I had our last child I stupidly had my tubes tied. I HAD to sign the papers to do so during the same time I signed the papers of if they had to choose who was going to live,me or the baby who would it be. My child was 3 months early because of developed pre-eclampsia. I 100% believe that my PCOS caused this. I read somewhere that it sometimes does.

Now comes to finally finding out that there is a medication that can help with this. I was tested again and what do I hear? "Well everything is fine, so you don't have it". All my blodwork was normal EXCEPT the insulin which was lost. I have to re-take that. Lucky me!! Am I right? It is the insulin that determines more than anything else that a women has PCOS right??? I want to get on Metformin. I am scared to death of getting diabetes. My dad has been a insulin diabetic for about 10 years and gives himself shots in the stomach twice a day. That along with me being overweight ia not good. I don't eat alot but I gain weight VERY easily.

ANY information on any diets anyone has used would be helpful. I lost weight through JennyCraig but it took $1200 and 8 months to do it. I joined Weight Watchers but I only lost about 40 lbs and have put most of that back on. Has anyone tried the Atkins Diet?

Thanks for listening Suzanne
