My_Story

I'm only 18 yrs. old and have just been recently diagnosed with PCOS. I got my period when I was 10; it was never very regular. I was always just slighty oerweight and being Egyptian, it was no big deal to be hairy.

So I grew up thinking that I just was too damn lazy and needed to diet more fervantly. As far as the the hair growth on my body, I figured I would just have to wax it all off like many other middle eastern girls did.

I was lucky enough to be seen by the head of the endo dept. at UCLA. After my dx I was put on Metformin, Spironolactone, and the pill. The pill concerns me till no end -- you see, I'm a virgin but desperately want to have children one day. I can't stop crying, infertility is such a hard concept for me to deal with at this age!

However, the worst experience that I'm going through is loosing my thick, beautiful, hair! I am once again weaping as I write this because, although it sounds completely shallow, I just can't get over seeing tons of hair in my comb. I'm terified of even taking my daily shower because I know that after the shower I would have to comb my hair out and see it slipping away into the comb! It is as if my hair follecules are simply just letting go of the hair. I went from having hair so thick that it was hard to manage to actually seeing my scalp through my hair.

My "Cysters," I am truely desperate and would greately appreciate any advice you have to give. Maybe you could share some of your hair loss success stories with me. I would very much like the name of any medications that you have found help the hair loss. Feel free to e-mail me at anytime.

I am a teenage GIRL and would like to stay that way! Can I???

P.S. I've read most of your stories and would like to thank all of you (especially Kat) for sharing; it helps immensely.
