I'm about to ask my doctor for a new BCP. I was taking one with desogestrel (Mircette) but it totally turned off my libido. So I'm hoping for one that doesn't do that. I've read that desogestrel and norgestimate are both non-androgenic which is probably why it wasn't making me horny and so I should avoid norgestimate as well. I don't care about a pill that controls hair or acne. Who cares as long as I'm having sex! I was thinking about switching to either levonorgestrel (Nordette or Alesse) or norgestrel (Lo/Orval). If you have any experiences with these or can suggest another progestin to try let me know. I'm also interested in drospirenone (Yasmin), so if you know what that does to libido throw that in too. And etonogestrel in NuvaRing. These are too new and I can't find anything on them on the internet as far as libido goes. I know I'm not listing all of the pills that have each progestin but those were the ones I was considering. So throw your two cents in and thanks in advance! ------------------ IP: Logged |

Hello, I tried Lo/ovral at my RE's suggestion and it did not improve my libido one bit. Not sure if it was bcuz I was only on it one month; maybe that wasn't long enough for it to take effect. I had to go off due to it aggravating my hairloss. It also caused cystic acne, terrible weight gain/water retention and nausea. Please do not let my experience deter you--Since everyone is different, if I were you I would ask for it, since it is one of the most androgenic pills out there. My RE also specifically said that it would increase libido, so I am inclined to think I wasn't on it long enough to experience this benefit. Good luck! b IP: Logged |

Hi! I have had very good luck with Triphasil (levenorgestrel) in the past. Ortho tri-Cyclen wasn't bad (Norgestimate). Mircette and Yasmin were horrible for me! I've heard a friend report that levlite has helped her incredibly. Good luck with your search. Please share your results. Chrissy IP: Logged |

Been on Demulin and Orthocyclin. Both have worked just fine. The only reason I switched was Orthocyclin is cheaper for me to obtain right now. ------------------ "I'd like to think the best of me is still hiding up my sleeve..." John Mayer, "No Such Thing" IP: Logged |

Orthocyclin, but I haven't tried too many others. IP: Logged |

I switched from taking Alesse to the NuvaRing. I'm doing a 6 mo's free trial through my doctor. Right now I'm in the 2nd month. I would say that so far I had a higher libido on Alesse. However, like BCP it can take a few cycles for it to adjust hormones. IP: Logged |
