Mine is! By about half an inch already! Its scary and frustrating and I want it to stop and grow back. I think I'm losing hair all over my head, but it seems most noticeable on my hairline, perhaps it's worse there? Does anyone else have this? I'm cutting back on carbs but it doesn't seem to be stopping.

All my warm fuzzies.
I don't have it but it does happen to PCOS. What tratements are you on?
Rogaine 5% would be where I would start. Then spiro. Then Brewers yeast or NourisHair. Then, maybe even propecia.
Fight it!

I too have noticed my hairline receding. It's horrible. My hair has always been my crowning glory, thick and full and wavy, but now I'm starting to lose it. It's still thick in the back but definitely the receding hairline. Just wanted to let you know you weren't alone.

I've got it too. My doctor did not seem enthusiatic about any treatments that are currently available for women.

Me too! God, I hate this. I, too, have always had long thick hair, and now my hairline's receding and I'm also losing hair from the nape of my neck. My hair is starting to look really crappy and I'm considering getting it cut really super-short just so I don't have to worry about it any more. I mean, it seems like it'd look less obvious to have missing patches of short hair than missing patches of long hair. I'm taking spiro currently but appanrelty it's not helping much. Blah. :/

Me too, and my hair is getting thin everywhere else too. I thought it was the thyroid medicine Synthroid. My sister is 36 and wonders why she's getting gray hair and I'm not at 39. I told her I would trade no hair for gray hair!

Thanks for your support, it's good to know others out there can relate. But isn't it just awful??

My doc won't prescribe anything for me because she says my case isn't serious enough. I'm not overweight, and not TTC, but I do have bad acne and facial hair and now hair loss. I am low carbing, and I was hoping there was something else besides medication that I could do, maybe brewers yeast or nourishhair? I'm only 21 and I'm scared it will just get worse and worse as I get older until I'm as bald as my grandpa. I've always had thick, long, curly hair.

All these hairs just keep coming out with white tips, and not growing back. And I see that that is what happens to men when they go bald. I hope there is some chance for regrowth, or at least to stop it from progressing any further.

GET A SECOND OPINION!!
I understand BY and NH help, but you deserve everything medicine has to offer before it is too late. You should hit it hard, early. See a good endo to diagnose any PCOS and do a GTT. Please don't be offended when I say that you are only 21 years old and that means you may not have learnt to question the doctor. If you want a second opinion, politely request one! Say to her, you understand from this website, the earlier any hairloss and PCOS symtoms are treated, the better. If she is at all reasonable, she will agree. GET A SECOND OPINION!!

I too am loosing hair, I have tried Nioxin that just made my hair course and really no differnce in the amount of loss. qI am on spironolactone too which I think helps a little with hair loss and especially the hair growth on other areas. I have only been on it for 6 months sometimes I hear it can take longer for good results. I just started taking Ultra Nourishair, so heres hoping it will work! along with the Nizoral dandruff shampoo (has antiandrogen properties in it, and studies have found it has a great effect with alopecia. I'll give all this a try for awhile and then let you know! I was going to try rogaine, but have heard conflicting stories about some loose more, some it has worked for, and some growing hair elsewhere because of it?? So i am a little leary of trying it right now.

Hi...I'm brand new, and was just diagnosed with PCOS last week. But the whole reason I finally went to the doctor and discovered this is that I am losing my hair. It looks like a balding man, about a "norwood2." I used to be the ponytail queen, but now I can't even part my hair on the sides...temples are long-gone. Haven't started any drug treatments yet because they're still investigating IR. You're not alone!
