Hi. In the past, I have always sorta smiled when people put "gross" and thought "Oh, it can't be that bad" but this is really weird... A few months ago, my body freaked out and I got my period for 60 days. At the end of it, I got this thing - what I call a pimple - inside my vagina. It had puss and all. It hurt to urinate or use toilet tissue for a few days. Then it went away. I attributed it to just having hormones totally out of whack. Until this past week, when another one came. I had my annual pap appt. sheduled. My doc. took one look and said "your cervix doesn't look normal and this 'lesion' is odd." and gave me a referral to a gyno-oncologist. Has anyone ever had one of these before? Could it be related to the PCO? It cannot be an STD because I was tested years before and am in a very stable relationship. I am on the pill. I have the appt. this Thursday, but thought I would check in with anyone. Thursday seems to be so far away! Kelly IP: Logged |

Do some research on Bartholin's cysts and hidradenitis suppurativa, it could be those. ------------------ IP: Logged |

As usual, you girls rock! I looked up the Bartholin's cyst and I actually found a page with a picture! http://www.afraidtoask.com/woman/pelvicdisease.html It was great to see the picture because that is exactly what I have. Thank so much! You have put my mind at ease! Bluerose, I will be interested to see what your doctor says. Kelly IP: Logged |

Hi! Don't worry, its not a STD. Its called a "sebaceous cyst". I get them about once every six months. Your vaginal area has glands and pores and b/c it's um...."moist" they sometimes clog and are almost exactly like a pimple. They are sooooo painful but I put a warm cloth on it and (this sounds gross) but I pop it.. it then shrinks and goes away.. ![]() IP: Logged |

Thanks for the post with that link. I have been worried about warts since I made a post a few weeks ago and someone suggested that I might have them. After seeing the pics I know that it is cysts also..whewww what a relief. I still have a few days before I see my GYN but now the embarassement of this appointment is gone! ------------------ IP: Logged |

I know how ur feeling. I have a tedancy to getting those things also. my first one was also in the same place and it freaked me out. Lucky for me my grandmother knew what it was. I still get them but seldom in that most uncomfortable place. women with pcos are subject to get these, they come on ur thighs and underarms as well. IP: Logged |

I get them too (the H.S.), in fact, I've got one now! As gross as they are, they feel sooooooo much better once "relieved"- almost like they instantly disappear. My husband (GOD BLESS HIM) usually will do the operation (whatever it may be, where ever it may be)- otherwise I suffer with the pain and I am not that flexiable to do it myself. ------------------ IP: Logged |

i had a Bartholin's cyst late last year and oh my god, it hurt SO bad! it had gotten infected (i think) and was so swollen that it hurt to pee and i couldn't even wipe after going pee (tmi sry lol)!! finally, one night, i was at my mom's for the weekend and decided that i would take a bath to let the cyst soak and maybe that would make it easy to pop... i had my mom come in and look at it (lmao yes, i got spread eagle for my mom because i wanted to know what the cyst looked like lmao!... i was desperate lol) and she said that it was VERY swollen and PURPLE. so, i had her find a needle, then even though it hurt SO bad, i poked a tiny hole in it (OUCH!!! and the fact that it's in your vagina which is not meant to have needles in it lol...) and squeezed and all this gross (tmi here, but...) thick blood and puss came out of it. oh my god it felt SOOOOOOO much better after that!!! made the pain of popping it worth it lol

Hi Thanks everyone for your replies. I did go to the doctor yesterday (because of an abnormal pap) and asked about the cysts. She said that they were definitely sebaceous cyst as Kristipooh said. My doctor said that the Bartholin's cysts are only found very low down on the labia. I guess they are very similar in their pain and symptoms. She said that the kind I had are totally normal etc. She also said something really interesting...that HPV has been found in newborns born from mothers without HPV. She also said that she knows of lesbians or nuns who have never had male partners who test positive for Chlamydia or Ghonorrea. Now, I am in public health and do public health research for a living and I am going to have to go and check that out! Kelly IP: Logged |

OMG I get those too! The very first time I had one I asked my Dr. about it and she told me it was probably genital herpes. I had been married for 4 yrs and DH is the only person I have ever been with. You can just imagine what I had going through my head when she told me I had an STD! (this was before my dx of PCOS) I cried and cried. She just said, "sometimes we do these things to ourselves honey..." Needless to say I never went back there again. When I was Dx with PCOS my RE actally brought up the issue. He called them sebaceous cysts and said that they were perfectly normal and not to be concerned unless infection set in. He even told me how to drain them and DH is such a dear to do it for me. (I have an irrational fear of needles). Let me share this bit of info...we use the ultra fine lancets that diabetics use for getting blood for their glucometers...the lancet is really thin and short. Perfect for "pricking." IP: Logged |

I got some bumps once in my private area and got all freaked out. I went to the doctor thninking I had an STD. He popped one and said they were like pimples and to be sure to shower right after I work out. I haven't gotten them since I don't think. IP: Logged |

Thank you all sooo much for talking about this. The timing could not have been better. I found my first "bump" last week, and my Dr.s appt.isn't until this Wednesday. I KNOW it can't be an STD as I had my pap two months ago (they ran all the tests b/c I asked them to since I've never been tested before), it came back clean, and my hubby and I are completly devoted to eachother. This has drove me mad with worry. You all have helped me put my mind to rest. Thank you so much. IP: Logged |

All, This is a really helpful thread! What do you think? They are not on the labia, they are inside the vagina, either on the walls ot on the cervix, not sure. Thanks for any feedback, [This message has been edited by Oana (edited 04-09-2002).] [This message has been edited by Oana (edited 04-09-2002).] IP: Logged |

Hi. The subaceous cysts that I had - and the way the doctor defined it, are outside on the labia. Not in the vaginal canal at all. If I were you, I would go and ask the doctor to check you out. It could be a really simple answer, but you never know! KElly IP: Logged |

Hey, I have a question in response to this. I think someone mentioned bumps/cysts under armpits...I have been having a problem for a while now where I get this pimple or ingrown hair-like bumps under only one armpit - I can't tell what it is and I have considered seeing a dermatologist about it. I didn't realize there could be a connection - does anyone else have this and if so what do you do? IP: Logged |

I think I get these too?? I ride horses a LOT and will get them like kinda on my seat bones near where my thigh meets my uh, crotch area.. I get them pretty bad after riding 5-6 hours in one day (I work at a stable 2 days a week, what can I do? :eek and they will usually pop about 2 days after I get them.. They're pretty darn gross, but at least I know I'm not messed up.. too badly...IP: Logged |

ok girls they can call it what they like but whatever they call it, we got em I had a polynidal cyst that had to be surgically removed when I was 14, it was 4 inches deep, 4 inches long, and 4 inches in depth on my tailbone, I've had the boils you all talk about or cysts and they don't stop there. I get them inbetween my legs as well as all the nice places you discussed. I have harder bumps as well on my legs and pimples on my hairy breasts. (I'd never be able to tell anyone these things but I'm sure many of you have held the shame and embarassment to long as well. Doctors are so silly and vain they think because they found a certain kind of cyst, it should be named after them and others are not related. Guess what, the cysts in our ovaries and uterine's and the ones on the outside of our bodies are all related. Our eggs won't produce so we end up with cysts all over. It's in our blood stream, via our hormones and will come out any way it can. Although I too do some popping........ok alot, everyday I'm picking and poking there are some other things that might help. Hot cloths, and here are some pultices that WORK!! take a piece of bread soaked in milk put on boil and cover overnight cut an onion heat on stove and put on boil, leave it there as long as you can toothpaste (which works better with pimples than boils) these pultices have been used for generations, help relieve pain, swelling etc. the more I poke the more I hurt. Thats our ovulation. Check out herbs and vitamins. Cut out chocolate, caffeine, starches, carbohydrates, find non pharmacutical therapies drugs only mask the symptoms LOVE YA ALL AND ITS NOT GROSS, WE DO TAKE BATHS just life at least my life IP: Logged |

Burdock root, when steeped in very hot water and applied to a boil will shrink them very effectively. My friend gets them on her face often, and I have encouraged her to use burdock. When she does, they clear up faster than with hot water alone. Also, dabbing a drop of Tea Tree oil on the spot will help to disinfect it and kill the bacteria, without opening the cyst up. I get these too, usually only during or just after AF. Has anyone that has taken Provera(or depo provera or any other brand/type of medroxyprogesterone)noticed any change in your boils/cysts after taking it? I used to only get these occasionally, once a year or less, but since taking Provera to bring on my period for the first time a few months ago they have definitly gotten worse! ------------------ IP: Logged |
